    Exclamation possible problems with 205s

Hi i gave a pp295s and when i turn it on i hear a bunch of arcs near the front. Sounds kinda like a stun gun with a weak battery. After i replaced the faceplate it seems more pronounced, this could just be because there was less background noise this time. So is there something wrong?

Some arcing at the HF points is normal, for a moment when you turn it on, and at the start of each arc. If it keeps going all the time you are welding then it might be something else. Call tech support and they can talk you through what is normal. Was the faceplate broken in shipping?

Yes. It looked like it was practicaly thrown. By the time i got it off it was in 4 pieces. There was enough force to bend a screw. Man it was a pita to change

With that much damage I would call support for sure and be at the machine so you can do any tests they want you to do. Did you look inside carefully for any other damage such as broken board mounts? Did you take good pictures of the insides? Apart from the noise, does everything function ok? Maybe most a video of what you are seeing and hearing on YouTube.

Welds fine as much as a person with no experience can let it. And it seems like it only arcs when i flip the main switch. I need to finish hooking it up to test tig and plasma this weekend however my compressor took a dump on me

The sound is normal. It's the HF. It sends a momentary pulse through the system. Its part of the start up.

a little 30 gallon horizontal compressor that was older then dirt. the parts that failed where the pump motor and switch. the tank was halfway failed. im building a shop now so i need a better compressor.

ps. i have finally gotten the rest of my welder put together. i found a solution to the screw being too long for the right side of the regulator mount. swap it with a screw off the cover. its the perfect length and i didn't have to cut a screw or fubar something up. i went with a t type system to throw it all together.
like all forums here is a pic to satisfy yall

This is normal when you power the unit up.
