Thread: Consumables

  1. Default Consumables

Everlast, what brand consumables (RE the inner &outer tips) can be purchased at a welding supply dealer, which will work with the 70 amp plasma?

Everlast, can you type in the url to direct me to the page on your store, in your site, where I can purchase these consumables. Currently it says 99cents.

For weeks I have heard I will receive a response. Everlast, if you are unable to provide these consumables, please say so.

The free (or discounted) consumables sounds like a great deal! I'm wondering how you know when you need to replace a consumable. Hours of use? My plasma cutter is arriving tomorrow. Should I be keeping a record of the time I use it? Thanks for your help.

Simply call 877-755-WELD and you will be able to purchase them directly. I don't know if the consumables have all been updated yet, we were reworking the consumable kit quantities at the last minute so there could be some issues. There should be tons in stock.

These consumables are not generally available locally. The PowerPlasma 50 consumables can be bought locally, in many cases, but not the PP 60-80, unless there is an Everlast Dealer nearby. I believe you have a P80 torch? What does it say on the side of the torch head? Is this a PowerPlasma 70 or an older unit?

I've not received any email about the consumables or issues from you, so you must be referring to the purchase area on the website sending messages. Alex will be glad to ship you whatever you need. To me, a phone call is a whole lot quicker than the website purchase, even though both are available.

Mark, feel free to correct me,

Consumables last for a very long time if you keep the torch elevated slightly from the metal. I normally use 1/16" to 3/16" gap. As said elsewhere on the forum, the more practice you have the longer they'll last. So it's not a certain number of hours, it's more of getting the feel for it. Also, after you get a feel for it, you'll be able to smell a electrode that's almost used up. If the pit in the electrode is deeper than about an 1/8" then it's almost ready to "spit" a bubble of slag in to your tip. Other signs are, not cutting very good, not getting much penetration in thick metal, and more of a burnt smell when you cut rather than just hot metal smell. It's always advisable to turn the amps down.
For example, today I had to cut out welds. Instead of blasting it with full power, I used 11 amps. I just used the torch just like a reversed welding operation. Making my circular arcs blowing away the weld but not harming my base metal.

Safety is number 1, Second, have fun with your new Plasma.

    Thanx 4 reading,
