Thanks again everyone for any and all help.
Forgot to mention this is a tight 3/32 gap, 3/32 70S6, 3/32 tungsten, lay wire technique, 90 amps and 8 lpm gas.
Now, try dipping. OK, I see something...and have thought of something else. The sides aren't tied in, and it looks like your ripple separation is too big...that's still sign you are using too much amps and moving too fast....90 amps is way too much as evidence by the overreinforcement inside. While the weld inside should suck back it should be fairly flat, or you'll get a restriction in the flow.

Try, wiggling the torch,(walking the cup) about as fast as you can, or freehand the torch so it is running from side to about 3 times a second.

What you have in the pipe from what I was taught and know, is way too m uch reinforcement still all the way around. Too much filler at too many amps causes this. Again, no suck back, but the backside should be flat and actually, if done right won't be but about 3/32 wide.

Ok Mark I done one with 70 amps and here are pics of it.

Best one yet. Still a little too much inside reinforcement in a couple spots, and maybe a little under, but that's not bad. The bead contour looks a LOT better on the outside.

Figured out why I couldn't get the root in all the way. I was keeping my tungsten in the cup to far and couldn't reach the end of the bevels to use the arc force to push it in. I was breaking down the walls but I was holding the tungsten back and it was making the filler wire bridge over the bevel and not pushing it to the inside. Thank you Mark and everyone else for your help. Finally getting it and now I'm not to nervous about the test. I'll let you all know how it goes after the 17th of June.

Sounds like you've made some great progress. That is what I like about this forum, it has some great people who are willing to help out. I also like the fact that Everlast staff are both knowledgeable and active on this forum.

I talked with Mark on the phone the other day and he pointed me in the right direction. Along with the tips from everyone else on here I just passed my tig root 7018 cap bend test tonight at school. My instructor told me that if I keep it up then the actual test shouldn't be a problem. I cant wait till the 17th to get my state license out of the way. This was the root that passed the bend test. Sorry didn't get a pic of the inside until after the hot pass and it wasn't as pretty then, lol. But it was in all the way.
