Plasma in my future... near future now!

Thanks to a great chat I had with my boss Friday, during the course of which he offered me a promotion and nice fat raise, I'm moving up my timeline on some projects. Acquiring a plasma cutter was one of the 'sooner than later' items on my list and sooner just happened to run up and slap me in the face.

So, I was originally looking at a supercut 50P, but now thinking a PP50 or PP60. What's the deal with the 60S, it isn't in the list on the main site, looks a bit different than the other PP series.

So, what's the difference between a PP50, 60, 60S? Is each a hundred more than the last? Which torch do I really want?

Blowback vs HF? Not CNCing for a while yet, not till after the move (no room) and will likely pick up a machine for that when I do, so not worried about that aspect, but the 60S appears to be CNC friendly like the 60C but with a hand torch rather than machine torch.

Thoughts, advice? Trying to stay near a grand to my door (well, less, I have some contest discounts to apply)

We only sell 60S and 60C's. No more plain 60s. This is true for the 60,70,80 units.

Ok, so, I'm looking at plasmas but can't really see how to move forward. 99% of everything will be under 1/2". No CNC for now, pilot arc is a must, cost is a factor (don't want to just blow cash because I have it, ya know?).

What are the determining factors that would make me want to drop an extra several hundred on a PP over the 50P.

What torches am I looking at being able to use, is that a limiting factor?

I'd like to be able to use things like a pantograph (future project), circle cutter, drag tip, etc. for flexibility, does that factor in?

Advice here folks, y'all saved me some money with the TIG recommendation to suit what I needed (200DX is great, don't miss anything over the larger units and I haven't maxed it yet) and I couldn't be happier with that, I'd like to feel the same after the plasma cutter shows up as well.

My vote, PP50. The SuperCUTs are fine if for hobby, if making money off them, I like the better duty cycle/IGBT. I have a PP80 I use now, the extra power is nice, but if I was on a budget, the PP50 would be all I would need. Also, lug a PP80 and PP50 for a day and tell me which one is lighter

If your thinking down the road you may get a CNC then go with a PP50 or 60S. I purchased a Super Cut 50 and then decided to embark on a DIY CNC journey; so I purchased a 60C. I think a separate plasma for CNC is the way to go, but when your getting started a CNC capable plasma cutter is the way to go.

I bought the PP50 and it does what I need. I wish I would have bought the PP60 just to get a little more power.... What your doing Now is not always what you will be doing in the future so make sure you have room to grow

My thoughts exactly. It's better to have it and not need it than than to need it and not have it. A larger machine will also run cooler with a better duty cycle. List price for the PP60 is only $100 more than the PP50.

Call Oleg, he will get you a good price. I use the PP80 for day to day and have a PP50 in the wings for CNC. But the PP50 is quite the machine.

Comes with a Trafimet s75 torch according to amazon.

Close, not a lot are platinum, but lots of halfnium.

As with other things Everlast, probably best not to order anything until you open the box and see what you got. It seems like the factory can surprise everyone sometimes.
