    Default Changed Control Plug MTS250S

I got my new Everlast Power MTS250S and the Control Plug has been changed I went to use my long Tig torch that I got with my Everlast PowerTig 250EX and none of torches, foot pedals and Spool Gun will fit it. I ordered a CK Worldwide torch the Flex-Loc FL3L 25ft and Amperage controller and they will be in this week and it they will not fit it will have the old plug. Does anyone know if they make an adapter for it.

The easiest way is to change it back to the old style, where all of your existing torches will fit.
Especially so, if the CK ones have the same connectors as yours existing ones.

One source is online from China. They come as a M/F pair. Usually free delivery.

Any change like this will nullify the warranty on the components and related components involved as we can't guarantee the accuracy of the modification or the quality of it. That's not to say it won't work, or you aren't capable, but since this involves more than a simple wire or two, and the possibility of loosing track etc, it's something that you'll have to take the risk on... IF I were to do something, I'd simply make an adapter.

Well I guess I will have lots of spare parts for my 250EX now, I wonder if the new PowerTig 255EXT will have a different plug I got one of them on order.

The new 255ext will take different ohm pedals...but the connector will have to match. I am not sure, but the adapter idea IS the easiest solution. Looks like you have already opened up the welder to remove the female plug? You can get a couple of male/female connections online and easily make an adapter.

No I did not take it apart the picture is of the 250EX plug that I had to take out the Female pins for the HF was jumping across the pins that were not used. The new 250S has reversed the pins order on the plugs now Female on the machine and Male on the plugs.

What a pain. They really should have a standard plug. If they are worried about mixing up wires and burning something out, voiding the warranty, a miswired adapter could do that just the same. To avoid that, they should be able to sell you the proper adapter.
Are you saying the spoolgun you specifically got for this welder, came with the wrong plug, too?

No my Spool Gun that came with my Power I Mig 205P will not fit, you need a different one but it is the same unit but they have different plugs and now you can use the wire speed knob on the side that was not hooked up on the 205P they just added the wires and a different plug not to mix up the guns so I have lots of spare parts. It is the same with most everything one year to the next they keep changing the parts it could be for the electronics in the MTS250S.
Well I do like the machine and the way it welds.

I see now, I was just looking at the list of machines in your sig. Still it would be nice if the company standardized on a common plug, or at least made the required adapters available. I would guess that some of this comes from more than one factory, but they do spec a number of things, so that should be one.

    Excellent point Rambozo.

I also get Mark's point about the warranty.

But OTOH, the company will sometimes send replacement parts, i.e. boards, solenoids, components, etc, and allow diving into the unit for DIY repair.

Seems to me that the potential for screw ups would be much greater.

    What about the warranty then?

No, most boards are plug and play, and what few wires there are, aren't like the array running to the plug. But then if we authorize it, we have weighed the risk.
