Thank you for the comments. All my hats are 100% hand made from blocking, sanding, shaping and sewing in the liners and sweatbands. There are only about 130 hatters left in the country and I am one of them.

My hats off to your abilities!

The Open Road looks a lot like the hat that LBJ, you know, the guy who had Kennedy killed, wore.Click image for larger version.

IN the hatting world the Open Road is known as the LBJ. In fact Kennedy is credited with killing the hat as a mens fashion accessory. When he did not wear a hat in office he started the trend of not wearing one. Too bad LBJ did not start it back up after he killed Kennedy.

Shhhhhh.... you're not supposed to tell!

An interesting point about Kennedy ending the hat era. Up until then you weren't considered fully dressed if you weren't wearing a hat, you may as well have been without your pants. Those Depression-era photos of guys waiting in line at soup kitchens- all wearing hats.

Mighty fine looking hats. It's refreshing to know that there are at least a few artisans still in this field.

It was said that when JFK asked Johnson if he should go to Dallas, LBJ told JFK, "Mr. President, you need to go to Dallas like you need another hole in your head."

Not sure if that is true...but it sure is true that LBJ along with the Military industrial complex and some oil men like George HW Bush had JFK killed.
