Thread: Show me your 3RD / Third hands !!!!

  1. Default Show me your 3RD / Third hands !!!!

Hey all,so I made this thread to show off mine and everyone's third hand.We all know imagination goes a far way so show us your little helper!.For those who dont know what a third hand is its a homemade tool that is used to hold down parts together for them to be welded. The advantages of having a third hand is great because it helps keeping your work piece stationary and provides proper ground. I will start off with mine first.

Jody has a video explaining it.

All my parts were bought at home depot which are:5/16 iron rod,3lbs sledge hammer,3/8 nut&bolt and 3" chisel with a budget of $30.I used silicon bronze on the end to prevent any unwanted arcing and to provide a better ground.

I was wondering why you attached the chisel with a nut and bolt (and why you used a chisel to begin with) and then I saw the last picture. Very nice!

Yeah ,I originally planned on cutting the Chisel#in half but after seeing what it did to my saw blade haha I had no choice but to have a change of heart and made it the way I did which turn out to be great.

I still need to get around to making one of these. I tend to just make myself struggle or burn my fingers holding little pieces :/

I knew there was a reason I saved those Nordictrack Weights All those Years ago....

It's looks great blaster and it looks like you have screws holding the weights to the shaft which is good for when you want more or less down force.

Trust me you will save yourself a lot of grief. What I notice is my arc starts are a lot better due to better grounding,I use to have a lot of sputtering when welding and now I know why.It will make your work a breeze and for some one what welds a lot of polished aluminum pipes this thing paid for itself the first time I used it.
