Speaking of fences

I did this a little while ago but didn't post anything. Just a little gate project. This is a temporary fence while some yard/pool work was being done. Someone else put it up, but I have never seen anything so lame. There was a small man gate inset into a larger gate. But the man gate was by the main hinges, and the only thing holding the main part of the gate was a length of angle iron running under the little gate. Then there was a rickety wheel at the end and when you unlatched things the whole main part of the gate basically fell over. The other section of gate was ok, so I left it alone.



I didn't have much time, so I did the quick and easy thing and just cut apart the bogus gate and swapped the parts around. Didn't take pics during, but you get the idea. Put the large part of the gate on the same hinges, then hung the small gate from the end.



Relocated the ground post to hold things together and set it up so the small gate will fold back completely, then the whole thing can be secured against the wall with the same ground post.



All done with TIG on 120V with PA 140ST and a 4.5" angle grinder. As I mentioned even with a little wind you can usually shield it with your body or put something up to let you use shielding gas outside without too much trouble. That dual voltage comes is so handy. I don't know how I ever got along without that. Someone else gets to paint it up.
