From Toronto/Mississauga area. Been in HVAC biz since 1973. Mostly industrial/institutional. The past 25 years its been mostly boilers. I've dabbled in welding from time to time over that period but never actually made money doing it. As of the past few years I've been looking for a hobby that'll carry me into retirement and beyond. I've always liked welding so I thought why not Metalart?! The only welders I've ever worked with at the large Miller and Lincoln stick welders and tig welders that weigh about as much as my Ram 2500. Then I noticed one day these small inverter machines. Did some research and found Everlast. To say I was impressed would be wrong. I was intrigued however. I went down to my local welding suppliers and started asking some questions about the construction and technology behind them. Seems that ones like Thermal Arc are made in China and even Lincoln makes theirs overseas. Miller use parts made in China although they say they are built in the USA. Price started to be an issue. I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that these manufacturers were asking for the farm for a unit that was a bit misleading. Reading the reviews it became obvious that there was a lot of prejudicial reviews and that many posters on other forums were parroting what these others were saying without even knowing the truth. So I started looking at Everlast again. The decision has been made and the money is in the bank. This ol' fart is buying the 200DX TIG welder and the 50 plasmacutter. What sold me was not only the quality but the after purchase support.
