any how can someone get me in the pall park for settings on my 205?? i am trying to weld 14g sheetmetal i have it set at 70amps with foot pedal 2t on but want to try the pulse mode i think i have blue 2% 3/32 tungsten what i got with my 205. i have not got a chance to really use this thing since i got it other than the plasma and i like that a lot so far
You are in the ballpark, maybe go up a little to 80 or 90 amps, so you have a little extra in the pedal. 1/16" tungsten will start a little cleaner and be more focused, but 3/32" will do the job, too. Blue or red tungsten is fine (lanthanated or thoriated). Pulse settings depend on what you are trying to do with pulse. If you are using it to set your pace, you will run a slow pulse of around 1 pulse per second, with roughly 50% on time, and 50% current. You can also do the same manually with the pedal in areas where you may not be able to maintain an even travel speed. If you are using a fast pulse to control heat input, then go up to around 30 pulses per second or faster with 30-50% on time and 30-50% current.
