    Default New cart

This is what I came up with for a cart for all the machines. Found one similar on google and liked the way it was done. Takes up the same foot print as my old Acklands 220v welder just taller. The only problem that will cause is when I have it parked next to my lathe I have to move it out if I put a long piece of rod through the head stock. I didn't take a picture of the back but I have 2 tanks on there plus Y-hooks at the top to hand the power cords up that are not in use. (wish I could get a 3 way splitter for that). Closed in the top section so I can store my helmets in there and any consumables along with my tig fingers and manuals. Still testing it out , might put a few more hooks on there just to hang things and try and keep the cables separated. Hard to figure out how many hooks are needed until everything is in place.
The storage rack in the background is where I store our sleds in the summer so it is always in the shop. I figured I might as well take advantage of it a put a fold down table on it for small work projects. You can see in one it is clean, but like any flat surface in my shop stuff will eventually get piled on top. I gave up cleaning the shop yrs ago. I just call it a organized mess. I know where I used something last, if I clean up I always go to the last place I used the tool not the last place I put it in the tool box.

That's not a problem, just install several outlets on your cart and give the cart it's own cord. I have one cart with a 25' cord and another with a 50' cord. Both have a few different outlets to suit the machines used, and some accessories. Depending on what type of plugs and cord you use, you can even get a mix of 240 and 120 outlets on your cart. (four wire input cord and plug required) If you limit the use to one machine at a time, you will only have to size the cable to your largest machine.

I like the covered helmet storage. Great way to keep all the grinding dust and other crap off the lenses.

That's a great setup. You sure got a lot on that cart! One thing I thought I'd bring up for the heck of it is, you may want to space your Everlast units on the middle shelf away from each other for better cooling. Of course you'd have to figure a way to extend the shelf a little. Just thought I'd mention it as they make somewhat of a deal about not blocking the vents on the welders (could possibly void the warranty).

Haha, my work surface looks the same when I've been working on pretty much any large project, and even when I clear and clean to get everything perfect, I usually find that it gets cluttered again in little time. Keep up the good work!

Can you fit two tanks on the back or do you run flux core in the IMIG?

The welders have about 5" in-between them in the center, the angle of the picture doesn't show it, and 5" above the welders.. That should be plenty of space for vent clearance, plus they are open on each side. If they can not draw enough air with that space, then they wouldn't draw any more air with 12" between them. I know the manual says something about 2 feet clearance all the way around, if that's what is need then I will have to park it in the middle of my shop floor. About the only piece of real-estate left in the shop that big.

Missed two tanks part. Could not imagine no gas welding in a shop. Looked like one tank in picture.

Did a close up and you can see both tanks one looks shorter. Nice job on the cart.

Your right one tank is shorter. My mig tank is only 80 cf. Tig tanks is 125cf Found over the years that is all I need for the mig unless a big project comes along. It all has to do with the cdn price on contracts and refills. All though I have found a new source for gas and as soon as my contract comes due I will try for a better deal or switch my mig tank to the same place I get the argon.

I have only used flux core wire once and that was what cam in the kit when I bought my first welder. I thought the spatter was worse with flux core then stick rods. Used it up and got a gas bottle right away. Now that these welders both offer stick welding I can use that for outside work if needed. I found these blue rods a few yrs back and really like them for arc starting. I think the are 80 tac or something like that. They start real easy with no sticking, pretty sure they would start on painted metal.

Very nice, now I cant decide if I want to modify my cheap harbor freight cart, or just build my own.
