Thread: powerarc 300 good or okay

Default powerarc 300 good or okay

Okay Guys I'm looking into buying the PowerArc 300 off amazon for $590
I used to have a new Lincoln Invertec v275s and it was the greatest stick welder in the world.... sold
So, I was looking into the PowerArc300 as her replacement....
    I'm gonna be burning lots of 3/32 7018, 1/8 7018, 5/32 7018, 3/16 7018, 1/8 6010, 5/32 6010, 3/32 7024, and 5/32 7024....
How is the arc on the PowerArc300, will the arc snuff on 6010 whip-n-pause?
Can I run a 7018 vertical weave at 110 amps without the rod sticking?
Is the Arc Force/Dig setting as smooth as higher end arc's?
Dedicated Everlast owner and user, John

I don't know if you've seen the video online of the unit. It is designed for 6010 use and has a separate port for it. The arc for 7018 is super smooth. You have controls for hot start and arc force...I've used it quite a bit. You have to adjust it to meet your needs, but the unit certainly is capable. Don't try to long arc the 6010 though since its an inverter. The unit handles 6010 quite well though. A lot of people who "whip and pause" whip too far by adding a flicking motion to the rod to raise it up. If you use more of a stepping motion and keep the whipping to a moderate length there is no issue. The unit is designed to shut down the inverter if the arc length grows too long. Again, you can see it in the videos we have online. We use 6010 with a very minimal setting for the most part. Still plenty of adjustment left. This is last years unit but the internal has remained largely the same with only the case and panel design are changed.

You need to call Mark. they do not discuss prices on the forum. I believe it will be to your advantage to call them. I was looking at a plasma from Everlast on Amzon. I called and I am not sorry I did.

Should be able to beat the price. PM me...or as Gary said, call. The direct approach is always the best when dealing with sales.

I have the 160STH and run all those rods except for the 6010. I have no issues so I am sure the 300 will serve you well. I have run 7018 at 125 and tried to reach my duty cycle with regular welding and have yet to do so.

    I have the 160STH, And it won't run 3/16 7018 or 5/32 7024....
I need the POWER, and the hot start, and the dig.

Talking Friends don't let Friends buy Chinese welders

Tell you what, I'm going to stick to Millers and Lincolns from here on out.
I'm going to be starting up a Welding shop, and I'm going to buy all high quality equipment.
I'll just buy another InvertecV275-S, I don't have time to mess with "lower quality" welding equipment.
Good luck, and I truly hope they will put some green stars and stripes on our FLAG.
    Thank you Gentleman,

Dude, I truly don't know what to make of you. Your posts are all over the map. You ask questions, people give of their time to provide you detailed answers, and you pretty much ignore the responses. Not just in this thread, and not just on this site.

What I see here is that Mark answered your question with a good amount of detail, then suggested he could get you a better bottom-line price on the unit you wanted - all you had to do was call him. Then you come back out of the blue a month later and piss on everything. What gives?

And before you fall off your patriotic high horse, I suggest you revisit who makes what where. I know for a fact that Lincoln does not make all of its products in the USA. While I'll agree that US made products are often held to much higher quality standards, it comes at a crazy premium that many of us simply can't justify or afford. For us, perhaps the possibility of downtime is worth the trade-off; that doesn't make it a bad choice.

He pm'd me. I did not realize he was in Alaska...until he pm'd. me. I apologized and told told him that we cannot ship economically as Amazon to AK and that Amazon was the best bet. This was a while back and this is the first I've heard from him since.

I don't know why this would set up this diatribe though.
A guy throwing off on a very capable welder because of some suspect reason, then says he will go out and buy an unit that is more than 5 times as much (presumably because he can) makes no sense to me either.

    Whoa there guys,
I didn't mean to beat you guys up about your machines.
I'm looking at having high quality equipment.
Nothing personal, and Mark, nothing you said, did, or do, turned me off.
You guys can delete this whole thread, I probably put my foot in my mouth about everything.
I'm sorry I came off wrong, maybe worded my last post to the wrong tune.
I just will stick to Red and Blue.
I apologize For pissing you guys off.
Can you just delete this thread and we remain good pals?

He's "free" to buy whatever he likes, or "thinks" he likes. No matter what color. I'll go with hot air.

    Wonder what branch he served?

Lets look at the facts about "quality". Lincoln outsources the invertec inverters to Italy, who uses many Chinese components. Miller no longer makes their stuff in America, and says only Assembled in America at best. In fact we have converted a number of customers from Miller and Lincoln who had used their products previously, especially on the PowerArcs. They have very low failure rates and MANY people have said the arc "quality" meets and in many cases exceeds the arc quality of their former machines. We don't advertise the PA 140 or 160 sth to be 6010 capable. But we do advertise the PA 200, 200ST, and 300 to be and they perform very well.

I think it's the unexplained jab at "lower quality" aimed at the aforementioned product when you had previously inquired and even said you were a loyal owner....which you completely either exaggerated your loyalty, or just created a completely false scenario that's offputting. You can't be loyal and then dis the product in the next post like you did, unless you have a medical issue or drinking problem to explain it or give more detail on the sudden change of heart.

As an aside, kudos to Everlast for leaving this thread up.

That tends to invalidate the claims of manipulation and censoring by the unenlightened.

I very much enjoy my PA200 and it does everything asked of it. That doesn't mean a PA300 wouldn't find a use or two.
