Thread: Some questions to help me decide

  1. Default Some questions to help me decide

    Hi.

I was originally considering a PT200DX or PT250EX. But a couple of things have made me reconsider either of those two machines, and now I'm leaning toward a PT210EXT. On the product pages for the two analog machines on Everlast's website, the gas regulator and foot pedal are specifically listed on the Standard Equipment section. However, on the product page for the PT210EX, no mention of the foot pedal is made at all, and the only place the regulator is mentioned is under the optional equipment section. OTOH, pictures of both items are shown along with the welder, torch, work clamp, etc., which would seem to imply they're included with the welder!

So, my question is simply this...does the PT210EXT include the foot pedal, gas regulator, and regulator hose, or do those have to be purchased separately?

Also, no mention is made of shipping, but I assume it's not included. Can someone confirm this?

Finally, are these machines available, or if not, what's the wait time estimated to be?

Hey, Art, welcome to the forums!

210 EXT includes pedal, regulator, and hose. Shipping is not included, because it can vary particularly when shipping to locations outside the US. Can't speak to availability, but a call to Everlast in San Francisco will clear that up. The moderators on this board check in frequently and may have some visibility to stock levels at the SF warehouse.

If you don't mind me asking- what kind of projects do you have in mind?

Thanks DaveO for that info. I kinda assumed they were included...but want to be sure.

I currently own a Miller Maxstar 150 STH. It's a nice machine, though a bit small and limited on features. It has HF start and pulse, but pulse options are way limited. The big problem with it is that it won't do aluminum. I want to build a new skid plate for my motorcycle (a BMW F800GS), because I'm about to install some new headers, and none of the commercially available skid plates will clear the headers I'm going to use.

I also do some gunsmithing...building and modifying 1911's mostly. I want a welder that I can use at low power for jobs like building up frame rails to refit slides. I also need to be able to fab and modify small/thin aluminum...parts like scope mounts and the like. That's why I'm looking for low current AC ability.

I was almost convinced that the 250EX was the right machine...but then I saw that my 220V circuit in my garage is only 40A, which doesn't appear to be enough for the 250EX. The 200DX would work fine on my 220V service, but doesn't go down as low on AC. So, that's how I arrived at the 210EXT!

    Hi, Art.

As someone who's eagerly awaiting delivery of a 210EXT... they're out of stock, with a shipment arriving in about a week. Add a week or two if you buy via Amazon instead of direct. Do take advantage of the "make an offer" button on the product page.

    Cheers,
    Richard

I have a PT250EX,PT255EXT,MTS250S, i-Mig 250 and a PP70S all connected to 40A 240V circuit breaker switch and it has never popped but at know time is there two machines running at the same time. I would ask a electrician if it is OK, mine just said it should work if I don't push the machine to its maximum duty cycle, so far all is well.

I called and placed my order this afternoon! Now I just have to wait. I'm not good at waiting. Bad things happen when I'm just waiting.

    Thanks all for the help.

You've already got a TIG welder, so you don't have the usual list of things to acquire. Getting shielding gas, supplies, etc. would help you with the wait. Congrats on the new machine!
