Power Arc 140 ST stick electrode suggestions?

I have welded with MIG, but have never used stick or TIG. I am wondering what would be the best rods, generally speaking, to use and learn with. I want to buy a few different kinds to try out but I am looking for a good starting point. I was not looking for the 140ST, I wanted another MIG. But I witnessed one in action and figured it would be good to have and learn a new skill.

My suggestion would be to learn with 1/8 7018 rod and some 6010 as well.

I have a 5lb box of Hobart 1/8 E7014 that someone gave me. Are these of any use? I am sure they have been around awhile could they too old to use?

Unit is not made for 6010 use.

I suggest for economy's sake, 6011 and 7014. It'll do everything you'll likely need to do with the 140st.
