  1. Default 60c interference problems

    Hi all
I just received my new 60c plasma cutter and I am having problems with it stopping my system when it goes to plasma on (Interference I guess). It will make a few of the cuts then it stops the program and always on the plasma start command. Sometimes it will cut the whole part with out a problem. I have had my lighting cnc table for about a year using a router with out any issues. I have the plasma cutter grounded and the table grounded I even ran a ground to the control box but still having the same problem.
I moved the plasma cutter to the right and the computer system to the left, I remounted the control box to my computer cart so its as far away as I can get things. I can only get each about 5 feet from the table. When it stops if occasionally locks up the mouse and if has blown the small control fuse on the front of the plasma cutter.

I purchased it just because I thought it did not have these types of issues. I am really impressed with the quality of the 60c and do not want to send it back.

    Any help would be appreciated!!!!!

Any electric arc can cause some interference issues, not just HF. The best thing to do is be sure you have a star ground system so there are no ground loops. Try to have an isolated ground for the electronics, and do not share that with the plasma circuit. If you want to ground the plasma table, you can do that with a ground rod. Also you might need shielded cables to make your interconnects. If the computer is locking up then you will need to be sure that the plasma is not pulling down the voltage for your computer circuit. It can be a large draw. A small UPS can help to keep the computer power clean and at full voltage.
Long arc, short arc, heliarc and in-the-dark!

I have ordered a power conditioner to see if that helps. I have tested at 20amps and 60 with the same problem so I think my supply of power is fine but will monitor and tread incoming voltage to shop. Right now all my grounds go to the same grounding rod I will separate them and see if that helps.

    Thanks

What about a faraday cage? Put the PC under a metal/shielded setup of some type which is connected to its own ground outside? Also what type of PC Are you running? Since you can grab the Mach3 (assume you have this?) folder and plop it on any computer, can you use a loaner PC and see if it continues? Just a few thoughts.
