    Welcome Frank,

Takes a lot to get bashed here. There are other welding websites for that. You will find a good, smart, polite crew here. TIG might take a bet, but when you get it you will love it.

Keep use posted on your projects, repairs, etc.

Free argon is definitely a warm and friendly welcome to the TIG world! From your other posts it sounds like you're going to be jumping in with both feet this weekend... good luck with it! It can be frustrating because there are so many variables. One way to minimize variables is to start with fairly heavy steel, rather than aluminum.

I only picked up the torch a few times over the weekend, I visited my local welding shop and they didnt have 2% tanthanated tungsten. i placed an order for 1/16 and 3/32 tungsten to being since i have the 200dx i read in welding tips and tricks that, that's a good range to begin on steel. ill worry about aluminum after i get steel down. I plan on getting a few 1/8 - 1/4 thick steel sheets and practice my technique on torch angle, tungsten gap and working in the filler rod using the peddle .

Im also considering the gas saver kit that CK makes i believe they range in the $23 dollar range for 1/16 & 3/32

    slowly but surly

1/16 and 3/32 2% Lanthanated should do just about everything you will ever need, with that machine, for all metals.
