    Default Wrong part

I just wanted to stay off saying I'm new to the forum and hope this is the right spot for this question.
I just bought a powertig 185 ( dv ) and after it arrived/unboxed, etc, found out that the wrong tig torch was sent. My machine uses dinse 35 connectors but the tig torch that was sent was a dinse 25. I was curious as to how long it should take to get the right tig torch delivered?

How long is a piece of string?

Give Everlast a call, and they will get you sorted out straight away.

    Welcome to the forum.

Not sure posting on the forum with a wrong part on a Sunday will help you much. Smarter to just call sales and support 877-755-9353 on Monday 9AM PST and get someone to get the right torch on the way. Ext. 202 or 201. You can ask them how long it should take.

I was just trying to figure out how long it should take to get the right part. I guess just bad timing with this being a holiday weekend, but tried calling and emailing sales Friday but no answers.
I normally work 7 days a week, and this being my first and last weekend off for a while I'm kinda bummed that I didn't get a chance to use the welder any.
Also does anyone know how much a stick welding cable is? It doesn't show up on the website and my welder didn't come with one.

I got a call this weekend from Oleg. He said that somehow the factory got the wrong torches mixed into the 185s. A bout a year ago, they made a change from the small to the big dinse connectors. Apparently an old build card was used when assembling the torch packages. Call in and let them know you received on of the units if you get a break. They'll either send out a new torch or a new connector to remedy the situation.

Well that explains why it happened, and from what I've heard, I've been fairly confident that Everlast would fix the problem. I just didn't know how quick.

Welcome, dsmabe- that's frustrating to get the wrong parts, especially when you're "leisure" weld time is constrained by your work schedule. Everlast will take care of you, though- give the San Francisco office a call, and let them know what happened. Their number is 877-755-9353: keep in mind the 3-hour time zone offset, so you can call when they're open. Mention the stick electrode cable on that call, too.

What kind of projects do you have in mind for the 185?

I got hold of someone today and just like I figured, customer service was excellent. They should have a new part on the way and the stick welding cable should be on its way as well.

DaveO, my dad and I have been into drag racing for a while now and im sure that the powertig 185 will come in handy there. We used my lincoln flux core welder for everything that didn't have to be extremely strong welds. But I plan to use it for stainless steel exhaust for one. I would like to try my hand at making my own aluminum intakes and aluminum brackets, since the need for a/c.
But all of that is going to have to wait even longer, I got a quick response yesterday about the wrong torch, but got the tracking info saying delivery on the 14th. And the weight has me a little worried, they are supposed to be sending a adapter and the cable to do stick welding, but as of right now it only shows a package weight of 1 lb.

Agreed, 1 pound sounds a bit light. Might be worth a phone call to confirm.

Post up some pics when you start fabricating, we'd love to see your work!

Don't worry about the weight. It's common for shippers to enter 1 lb as their default and let ups charge their account for actual weight.
Post up some projects when you get it going.

Mark, a quick question for you. Is there anyone that would be doing any shipping over the weekend? When I talked to a couple people at the beginning of the week, I was told it might be the end of the week before the part would be shipped out. They sent me tracking info showing delivery scheduled for the 14th, but it still doesn't show that it has even been shipped yet.

You need to talk to the people you spoke with previously for confirmation and updates on specific shipping info. I am on the east coast and not in the main office where it would ship from so I don't know the details of what is and isn't happening exactly on that day. My guess would be no. UPS doesn't run on Saturday or Sunday.

Thanks Mark, I guess I'll be calling back Monday to see what's taking so long.

Another question, when I am ready for another welder can I order it through you?

I got hold of someone today, after telling them the situation, they immediately knew who I was. They had a shipment that they are waiting on to send out the dinse 25-35 adapter. They are supposed to have the adapter sent out later this week.

Hopefully this will be the last update on this thread. The parts are finally on their way and are supposed to be here 7/23/14. I would have liked to be able to use the welder this weekend, but again that isn't going to happen. I would have liked to see this situation handled differently, but all we can do is move forward.
Also, from what I was told and from what my understanding is, if anyone gets the powertig 185, it may come with the dinse 25 torch and a dinse 25 to dinse 35 adapter. Someone may want to get clarification on that to be sure.
As long as my parts get here and everything works as it should, I look forward to this being the last post on this thread. Hope to get used to the powertig 185 soon and post some projects in the appropriate topic!
