  1. Default Hi from California!

Hi everyone, I've been a welder/fabricator for 8 years, I'm getting ready to purchase a unit from here, just waiting to finish talking with 1 of the reps to see what they say/ reccomend

Welcome to the Everlast forum. You looking for MIG, TIG or MMA? Might want to call in and get Mark.

well i'm actually looking for a good ac/dc tig unit, and a portable stick/tig machine, i do a lot of repairs in the field plus a lot of shop fabrication, i e-mailed Mark last week, and i'm waiting for a reply from him, he said he would get back to me, i'm sure hes a busy guy so no rush, and i called and spoke to Alex in sales today and he gave me a bit of info, I would like to speak with Mark if possible, he seems like he knows the products well. If i do get to speak with him in one way or another i do look forward to it, this company is pretty new to me and I don't know much about you, and im not one to trust what i read on the internet.

I would start looking at the 200DX and 210EXT range for 30 amps max input power. Or 250EX and 255EXT for something will a little more power. How are you planing to power the unit?

I have my shop wired up for 220v with 60 amp breakers and 110v with 30 amp breakers so i would most likely power it from the 220v, as for the more portable unit im kinda looking at the 200st and that would be run of 110v when im fixing small stuff in the field (i.e. fencing, gates, railing) the 200dx looks nice tho i think i might prefer the 225 or 250, the 210 has extras that i really dont care for, and as that machine would be my main source of tig in my shop i think i prefer the extra amps over the bells and whistles.

We (personally) have a 255, but I miss my 250EX, less trouble to set panel for me and a glance to see where we are at.

The 200's (most) will run on a 30 amp breaker and a generator with a clean sine wave and 30 amps or better you can mobile on a budget. The 250EX is technically portable by most old TIG machine standards, but you will need a larger generator for it and it is not light.
