Thread: Powering a PA300 off a Winco 12KW PTO generator

  1. Default Powering a PA300 off a Winco 12KW PTO generator

    I've a 12PTOC-3 Winco generator.

I'm assuming it's got greater than 5% THD but cannot find any specs on it.

Can I run the PA300 off it WITHOUT endangering the PA300? I don't want to fry the electronics. If it's hard to strike an arc or the electrode sticks that's OK but I don't want to damage almost $300 worth of welder.

    Welcome, Newbury!

I googled but did not see any references to your model number. The Winco website does have a contact number on the home page, as well as sales and service pages: http://www.wincogen.com/

...so a quick phone call to speak to one of their techs would probably yield an answer. Probably safest to assume it is NOT <5% until you find out specifically.

What kind of work do you do with the PA300?

    Oxweld oxy acet gear
    IMIG 200
    PowerTIG 210 EXT... Amazing!

    Thanks for the quick reply.

It's an older model. Here's the manual page:

    Assuming it's not <5%, again

I've mainly seen references to insufficient power, but the amount I know about the sensitivity of inverter welders versus transformer welders is nil.

none yet, but I'm anticipating a lot of outside, farm related stuff. I need to weld on the trailers and tractors.
