    Default NEMA Plugs and Receptacles

Just purchased an Power Arc 200, UPS says itll be here today! In preparation id like to gain a little knowledge on Nema plugs/ receptacles. Sounds like a nema 6-50 is a common size, and will support 240v in single phase US wiring. Is this a good choice for me?

Also, do i have this correct. 240v Single Phase. White carries one 120v phase, Black carries one 120v phase. Green Ground... Is a ground, and Red wire wont be used in a single phase set-up.

What size Circuit Breaker do I want? (PowerArc 200) Do i error on side of safe w/ a 30 or 40 amp breaker, or go w/ a 50amp. My breaker box has plenty of room to add on, its in a detached garage and has its own meter which is totally separate from house. I am a hobby welder and will never tackle any sort of large job.

Btw, id like to stick with shopping at Home Depot for my wiring supplies. I would assume theyd carry the most common and standardized plugs and receptacles.

The 200 will have a 6-50 plug on it...if it's a ST model at least. The 6-50 should be the ONLY choice for you as it is the approved/designated welder plug in the US and is the best way to ensure compatability with other welding/cutting devices in the future. The red wire won't be present on the 200. It isn't 3 phase. You need to just go with a 50 amp. That'll give you enough power in most cases if it is a dedicated circuit. Home Depot does carry the receptacles around where I live.
