Thread: Motorguard air filter. Toilet paper???

  1. Default Motorguard air filter. Toilet paper???

Bought the pp205s and the motorguard m100 that comes with the m60 and 3 filters. Have heard some people use toilet paper as filer alternatives. Have the 3 filters from the pack that I plan to use on the plasma but just for curiosity will post my findings. All were a little shorter than the filter.

    M60 motorguard

Angelsoft toilet paper, small roll, very thin, soft cardboard tube. No compression. No good.

Charmin toilet paper. Bigger around. Even thinner cardboard tube. No good.

Scotts toilet paper. Bigger around. Ridgid, almost plastic like tube. Possible could work. Noticeable compression when placed in filter housing. Roll so big had to wind off 8 rounds to get in filter.

As stated will use motorguard for plasma but for sandblasting, etc. looks like scotts would be best from 3 I tested for fitment.

Plan on running air through the scotts and I'll update when I get time. Click image for larger version.

Back in olden days when the flat head Ford engine was hi-tech, they had an add on filter canister available that used toilet paper,,,everybody was cheap in those days, so they used it,,,problem was toilet paper disintagrates and flows out with the oil,,,,if I was gonna use something like that for oil or air filtration, I would make a large canister to hold those blue shop towels,,,they seem stronger and probably would not loose so many particles back in to the system...
Some of those lies people tell about me, are true
