Just for a comparison, here in Australia an Argon E2 bottle(4.1cM3... 144Cf)is $200 rental per year and $192 for gas.($392 1st bottle)
We are burdened with a single dictator of a company called BOC, there is one or two other small company's who you can buy a bottle outright and only charge $140 a refill but they are only available in capital city's... no good for us poor regional folk unless you can get freight cheap(thats about $100 freight for me per refill!)
Is that at Kennedy or Praxair? I deal mostly with the Praxair in Bristol, but have also worked with the one in Ewing as well. They offer an 80 cu ft tank for 159 filled and refills are around $4o IIRC. To be honest, for C25, I've switched over to the big 300 cu ft tank which I lease for $5/month and refills are 59 or 69. Much better deal, and with a bigger tank you have plenty of warning before running out.
When I leased the big tank, they let me trade in my little 80 foot tanks for the same size tanks, but now I keep one filled with straight argon and one filled with tri-mix. Since I use those gasses a lot less often, it works out really well, and the guys at Praxair have been really flexible.
Hope this helps
That was Kennedy in Trenton. I ended getting a used tank for $60. 60CF Filled. I am not that heavy into Welding/Fabrication yet. Just a couple of small projects.
Hey, I just went to a local supplier here in Tulsa yesterday. I got a 150cf bottle that I bought and now own for 198 bucks and a pure argon refill cost $18.80. Pretty good deal considering everywhere else wanted more money for smaller bottle and the refill was usually around $36.00.
Tulsa, Again I say its apparently a Regional Thing.
I got the tank through Clydesdale in Mt. Holly. One of his AC customers was going out of business. He charges $30 for a 75/25 Mix on the 60 tank.
Lots if times you can get the best deal off the truck. I gave back two airgas lease bottles

I was able to stumble upon that deal during the "Plant Shutdown" at the end of Sept. The one dealer wanted $200 for a New. Only have about 3-400 PSI left. Need to fill soon.
Got a Silly question here. How much PSI should be in a Full Cylinder? The reason I ask is, When I purchased the Tank, It had about 2k. Filled it yesterday. Hooked up the gauge. Shows about 1500 PSI.
Thanks
Welcome to the wonderful world of short fills. The working pressure is marked on the tank, and if there is a plus it can have a 10% overfill. If you have your cylinder filled instead of an exchange, you will usually see slightly less once the cylinder cools down. They get a little warm during the fill. Exchange cylinders are given enough time to cool off, so they should be full. Might be time to look for a new place. Someone here takes their gauge with them to pick up the cylinder and check. I feel like if I have to do that, I just need to find a new place.
Long arc, short arc, heliarc and in-the-dark!
That's simple physics. 1 pound for every 10 degree change. That's what they say for car tires.
You can do the math for your cylinder, but a typical 80cuft. argon cylinder will read 2157 psi when full. Standard 20°C at sea level.

I have a some small tanks (90/150 cu ft), and a couple big 330CF tanks, When I swap them at my LWS, I typically get the new ones at 2000 to 2200 psi regardless of size. Only once have I gotten one low (1200psi) and they exchanged it no problems. The last C25 exchange I got was at a little over 2500psi, and that made me happy all day.
I just looked at it again today. Its 2 lines above 1500. I Probably could've waited awhile to fill it. As I have no projects at this time.
You can run shielding gas tanks all the way down. I usually trade them in when they get to 100 psi
$148 for a 100% argon "T" tank (300CF).
$138 for a 75/25% CO2/Argon "T".
Outright exchanges, no rental 'fees'.
Just go new prices on 100% argon here, if I buy 10 "K's" cash I get it for $400.00 so it will fill all my spare bottles that I have, that will last me about 2 years.
