Default Powerpro 164 will 6011 work?

I found out the hard way 6010 doesnt work worth a .... with this machine.
    Can I run 6011?
If so what will work best DCEP or AC?

DCEP usually works best. Some brands/machine combinations favor one or the other.

No it won't weld 6010 and have never claimed it would. 6011 should be doable without any issue with DCEP.

Before I decided to buy it I didn't think to look through the forum to find out if it would run 6010. Just kinda figured it would..... oopps....

I'll give 6011 DCEP a shot tomorrow. Definitely cant turn out as bad as the 6010 "beads" did. LOL. It was embarrassing to look'em even with no one around

I found Lincoln Fleetwelds to work the best for me on most all the Everlast Equipment I've welded with. I haven't personally welded with the 164, but given what I know, I'd say that's a safe bet or Messer (US forge).

I forgot to update you guys.
I'm running 3/32 sticks on 14 gauge mild steel
I tried using prostar 6011 on DCEP........ ummm no
prostar 6011 AC...... slightly better but still not consistent.
(prostar 7014 runs decent by the way)
Radnor 6011 DCEP runs better than the prostar stuff but your arc has to be REALLY short & you have to keep moving. Still have starts & stops on occasion but it works.
    Going to order fleetweld 6011
    Excalibur 7018MR runs beautifully
I live way out in the sticks and lincoln electrodes aren't the easiest to come by otherwise I would have tried fleetweld 6011. Going to have to get some shipped to me.
    Thanks for the input guys!
