Default Poweritig 200 foot pedal problem

So my foot pedal came in today. I like the design. It came in the box with the top of the foot pedal not attached. I easily put the top on though. It seems decent. So I weld a little one last time with the torch switch before I try out the foot pedal and it works great. So I plug the foot pedal in and it only shows my amps set at 5 on the machine even though it's turn up to 70 so I depress the foot pedal and the amps only goes up to 11 then back down to 5. So I hook my torch switch back up and it's reading normal and working fine. So I plug the foot pedal back in and it's still messed up. So I pull the top of the foot pedal back off to check wires. I think it's all wired up. So I depress the pedal without activating the switch that starts the gas flow and initiates the arc and the amps work fine up to 114 amps but won't go past that but as soon as i press the switch to initiate the arc it drops back down to 11 then down to 5. Does anyone know what could be happening or know what i should check?

Which model powertig 200 do you have?

Be sure you are set to 2T and have up and down slope set to 0.

Did you actually try welding with it?
Long arc, short arc, heliarc and in-the-dark!

I have the analog model. I've only had it for 2 weeks. I bought it new from everlast. And i was on 2t and up slope and down slope are already at 0. Yes i tried welding and it wasn't putting out enough amps to do anything.

The unit displays the "Measured" amperage when the pedal is plugged in. That is normal for that unit. If you are pressing it down without starting an arc, what you are seeing is normal as the unit is not kicking the inverter into full gear.

Yeah i went out and played with it this morning. Realized I wasn't getting a ground so that's why it wouldn't work last night. But the foot pedal works. So with the foot pedal plugged in i only get to control the amperage with the pedal correct? Like if I'm looking for 70 amps then i have to press it down and start the arc til I think im at around 70? Is there any way to set max amps so when the pedal is all the way down I'm at the said 70 amps?

Set your max amps with the control panel - the foot pedal then controls the amps from the minimum up to the max you set on the panel.

That's what i tried doing. I set it at 70 amps on the control panel, but when I use the foot pedal it still goes up to 124 amps which is max on 115v.
