Thread: Regulator info request

  1. Default Regulator info request

Tried to post in the technical thread but no one would post my post. Hopefully someone is still using this thread. I'm looking for the sizes of the female ends of the barb fitting that screws on the regulators just below the flow control knobs. I need both sizes as the Tig one is larger than the one used for the Mig welder. Also, I need the inside diameter of the supplied gas hose. The 2 female fittings are a metric size. Thank you for your time!

There have been several versions of regulators and run concurrently in the same year too. The size may vary. Is there a problem with being able to measure it? The barb fitting measurement will be close enough. And not sure what female fittings you are referring to. The ones on the rear of the unit are standard 5/8" CGA if they are not hose barb connections.

Going to have to order them online due to no one carrying metric sizes. Didn't want to be a mm off and order the wrong sizes and have to return them. Was just looking to get a quick answer. Thanks for your time.

Do you not have the barbs to measure them? Or need someone to measure one for you?

You're better off to use the smallest and shortest hose you can. It goes a long way to cut down on the initial blast of gas and makes for better weld starts and less gas consumption. I think the supplied hose is 6mm but you can get 4mm hose to fit if you dip the ends in hot water for a bit to soften them up. Then they seal great even without clamps. Depending on what you are trying to do you will probably have to measure your fittings if you want to do something besides barbs. As was mentioned the regulators are only spec'd to have the right size barb and the thread is up to the different brands. On these Chinese regulators I have found a bunch of different threads, including metric, imperial and British standard pipe. Best to measure what you have if you need a match.
