Hey guys..I've been a mechanic by trade....so familiar with sticks .torches, and migs.I was looking to revisit Al welding...did my research..I settled on the 256 combo because of the plasma option...and i love green.. Last tig machine I ran had none of these pluse options{tan.hobart) and I never really figured it out.. ..so I still have a learning curve..U tube has been very helpful.Just burning rod for now.

Welcome. I'm sure you will pick up TIG in no time. What kind of projects do you have in mind?

Hate to admit it , but I want to build a 3 horse AL trailer. I'm gonna tackle some 12x14 al garage doors first. I want to run some al .045 wire through my snap on mig and see if that is a possibility cause the trailer has so many long runs make sense?

For sure something like a horse trailer you will want to MIG most of it, if at all possible. Maybe some of the skin details you will TIG for appearance. You might want to try a spoolgun. Most MIGs do best with a push/pull gun setup or a spoolgun for aluminum. The wire is just too soft for a push only, usually. 5356 will sometimes push, but 4043 doesn't want to.
