Faint sparks and no cut......

Just got my Cut50D and am trying to use it. I am currently hooked up to 110volts because Lowe's doesn't seem to carry welding plugs anymore so I can't plug into my welding receptacle. I have the air pressure set to 70psi on the front gauge, I have the blue wire on the neutral, green to ground terminal, and brown to hot. I've tried adjusting the amperage to yield a different result as well as using brand-new metal vs. rusty metal.

Here's what happens: I put the torch close to the metal and nothing happens, but once it is almost touching and touching I see very faint blue sparks around the copper electrode. Thought it might be a bad ground so wiggled it around but still won't cut. I went ahead as a last ditch effort and put the torch to a spot on the ground clamp and it tired to blast for a second and actually made a tiny mark, but that's as good as it gets. What do I do?

Did you try the HF adjustment located in this thread? That would be the first place to start. Also, if the unit a 110VAC unit?

I read the HF adjustment thread, but saw the warning about the electrical charge, etc. Honestly don't think that's something I should have to do straight out of the box so let me answer the rest of your questions first and maybe we can go from there.

I'm assuming it's a 110/220 volt unit since that was what the other wiring topic refered to as an option on the forum and the sales ad referred to the options as well. Maybe you can confirm that though? It's the CUT50D unit and the sales ad says "230V No Load Voltage, 100-115V Working Voltage". Honestly that manual that was sent with the unit was awful and the grammar seemed to be a direct literal translation from another language making it even more difficult to follow.

Still waiting for that phone call or an answer as to whether or not this is a 220volt unit only. If that is the case then chances are that's my issue.

I don't have any new PM messages or voicemail on my cell. We haven't spoken before though so maybe you have me confused with someone else? If you can just confirm whether my unit is a 220-volt unit only then that will help. Just reply here with that information.

The 220/110 volt units will have a sticker on it. If there is not 110volt sticker it is a 220volt unit. If you need a 110 unit, contact the sales office and ask for ext 201.

Please call my cell 281 380-4132. I've now hooked the unit up to my 220-volt welding circuit and it still does the same thing. faint sparks. I think this is a defective unit and I need a replacement shipped out to me.

Figure I would let people know we talked and there was a little verizon issue when you are out cruising or in a meeting. But we finally did hook up.

Yep. All is good. Unit has been shipped back and they will be sending me another replacement unit.
