  1. Default Everlast 250EX and water cooler question...

I just set up my new machine, and as soon as it is powered on, the fan is running. It doesn't shut off, is that normal? The water cooler seems loud, too. If it's normal, I'll have to live with it.

I am used to a machine running until the duty cycle is met and then the fan comes on, until the machine cools down.

No, it doesn't have fan on demand. It's likely you are used to running units with comparatively lower duty cycles. The fan runs continuously to provide the duty cycle of 60% at full amperage. For people that have been around welders for a while having a continuous running fan is nothing new. I've got an ESAB MIGmaster 250. If the switch is on, the fan is howling. It's got 50% duty cycle at 250 amps...on 240V 1 phase.

Ok, just wanted to make sure. I guess the welders I have and have used haven't had this, or I haven't noticed it, because it's not in my quiet garage. Thanks for the reply.

The fan will cool the machine down faster is it stays on and like Mark said, it will ensure the better duty cycles we normally have.
