  1. Default alluminum with I-rmig 140e

How thick of alluminum can this unit handle with the spool gun? also can it use the 200 amp binzel gun for the i-mig 205p? I want a little welder to keep in the tuck when I just have to fix litttle things at the harbor on boats and the lighter the better. Thanks even though my tig is dead I have to feel it was just a bad one. I am putting some trust in green and about to buy 3 more welders for our mobile unit. hopefully all will go smooth.

The unit can handle any job any other 140 can handle on Aluminum. I think the gun will fit, though we sell a lighter gun for that unit than we did for the 205P.

What TIG did you have? Did you send it in?

My 2 cents? Get the i-mig 200. I absolutely love mine, I've done lots of boat work with it and it's my FAV stick machine with 3/32 7018. Having said "lots of boat work" I will qualify that by saying that I control its output in terms of duty cycle. I consider it the bare minimum for what I do. I do not own a 140 but my guess is that you'll be unhappy with its output on AL on anything but gauge material. I know the price point difference but just think about the loss if it doesn't perform as you hope.

In no way am I an Everlast shill, as a matter of fact, if you read some of my other posts you'd conclude the opposite but the fact is I use (own two machines) and like their equipment. That's a fact.

The i MIG 200 is not the same as yours Yofish. It's changed greatly.

I have the ext 210 power tig. No error light but can't get any real amps just sparks. I am trying to figure out how to pull the board and send that in since I live in Hawaii and the 200 $ shipping will kill me. I was planning on buying the i-mig 205p later maybe in a month but wanted a real little light mig machine but maybe its not worth having both. I just wanted one spool gun for both thats why I asked about that. Still dont know if I should just get a 250P and have the 140 or 205p and 140 or just 205p. lol I am just starting out on my own. My boss is letting me do my own stuff a couple days a week and I have a shop but do a alot of mobile work. Mostly stainless and alluminum. Almost all the steel is heavy so I stick it. Pretty bummed about my TIG but hopefully the next one is better. I kinda wish I just got the 315 ext instead now. Thanks for the help and suggestions. Its hard here to make a $ since everything costs $$$$$ and pays $ but I love Maui and am very excited about slowly moving into my own business. I have a huge bid on Mon and hopefully my Tig wont be too long or I might have to buy the bigger mig a little earlier than I can afford.

If you are running alum and heavy steel with your mobil business I would look at the MTS250S . It has enough power to do some pretty heavy steel. I just got one and am getting it dialed in for almost the same kind of work. I do a lot of heavy steel welding. The problem with mig is on heavy steel you get cold cracking just like you can get if you do not use low- hi rod with stick. I just got my knurled drive wheel for .045 and 1/16 flux core . I am ordering some hobart fabshield 21B in .045 for the general fab work and some hobart fabshield xlr-8 for the heavy stuff in 1/16 ( this is a low-hi wire). It will be way faster than stick welding it. Mate the MTS to a 30A gun and you will have a killer portable system for alum and steel.that is capable in the shop as well. The MTS can do stick and DC tig too when the need is there.

The MTS250S is a nice $ machine. We have a IMIG200. 205P and 250P. The 200 is the light "go to" machine and it will handle aluminum and run on a 5500 watt generator. Has for many years. The 250P is the roll around stay in the shop machine. It can handle a lot of work. If I did it over I would get a 200 and 250 (no pulse; pulse sometimes requires a little test runs). I have \never used the MTS250P so I can not compare. I like the feature list and all weld modes.

You confuse me. You say the MTS250S is a nice machine but then state that you have never used "the MTS250P".

I'm really interested in the 250P to use in my boat building business but try as I might, can't get ANY user feedback. You say that you wouldn't get the pulse again; would you be so kind as to say why? You state that pulse requires little test runs. That does not surprise me, is that the only reason you don't like it?

Are you guys talking about the I MIg 250P or is there a new MTS250 with the pulse feature?

Might re-read that post. I said it is a nice machine (many people have stated that as well). Basically I say it's a nice machine based on the feature rich specs, S mode and MIG/TIG/Stick. But I felt I should state that I have not "personally" used one.

Then I stated the machines we use almost daily and what we like them for.
