Thread: Greetings from the Beaver State

  1. Default Greetings from the Beaver State

I'm new to TIG welding, but have done a bit of MIG work on various small and large projects at home. My new PT-210EXT arrives tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to getting it set up and learning the in's and out's of the GTAW process. Spent my day on a trip into town getting various supplies, including a 155 Argon tank, assorted filler wire, extra tungsten (blue), and a bunch of metal for practice and then the first project... a cart to hold it all (including space for a water cooler). I have an older harbor freight cart to use in the meanwhile.

It's been a somewhat long process getting the machine, and I won't go into that other than to say that the order was placed a month ago.

Welcome to the family. I look forward to your cart build. If you've never tried total lock stem casters I suggest you check them out.
These are the ones I use on everything that rolls in my shop. http://www.ebay.com/itm/151428117977...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT. I buy them by the dozen so the shipping isn't so bad.
I just built a cart if you'd like to have a look http://www.everlastgenerators.com/fo...-Plasma-Cutter

My plan for the cart is going to be something like the one Miller is selling for some of their Dynasty rigs... something like a modified hand-truck. I want to find some 20" bicycle wheels for it, but may also put a pair of swivel casters and a handle on the front for wheeling around the shop. I usually get my casters at Harbor Freight, as they're reasonably cheap and seem to hold up. I used them on a cart I built (MIG weld) for my chamber vacuum sealer and food slicer, and that worked really well.

Oy! This is beginning to look like one of the most troublesome online orders I've experienced, ever.

While the UPS tracking information indicated that the welder and accessories were to arrive today, that tracking information never updated. In other words, UPS shows the package as having been picked up, but never made it into transit. Sounds like yet another week or more of waiting until the welder arrives. Arrrrgh!

Hi I just got the same machine, got the deluxe torches and petal thrown in free, don't know about the petal yet but torches are going in the trash, keeping din connector to hookup CK torch to.
Well glad to see someone else is on this journey

It's hard to wait for a new toy. UPS service seems to vary a lot more than it used to.

I went with a handtruck design for portability as well.
