Default Super Ultra 205 blows 20A 110v breaker

I am new to welding. I have never used a TIG.... (I am waiting on a bottle of Argon so I am using the stick and plasma cutter) I have not ran a 220V circuit yet, but figure that this machine will operate on 110V so what the heck..... The problem is I keep popping a 20A breaker..... is this common and I should run the 220 circuit and not worry about it? Should I wait longer between welds while using the 110 circuit?

    Just curious,

For maximum amperage output on 120V, you'll need at least a 30 amp breaker. You can use it at lower amperage, under 85 amps or so stick, 95 or so TIG and only 20 for plasma (and it may still pull a bit more). Plus you need a slow trip breaker.

Put in the 220 and you'll be happy.

Thank you to everyone for the advice. While I am planning on using this mostly inside the garage on 220V.... I can also see a real need to use it in the driveway on 110V.... (unless I either have long 220 extension cord or longer leads for the stick welder). I was using the stick with the indicator sat at 112.... does that indicate 112A? Also, is there anyway to rotate the air intake on the plasma plug? I have it setup per the drawing in the manual and my airline turns straight down... this puts a bad bend in the airline and I think it is restricting the airflow.... if I can rotate this 180 degrees, the airline will go straight up.... if not, I will put a block under the unit to raise the front. (I am using the better welding cart from HF if that helps in the visual)

Could you post a picture of the airline problem ?

Zoama, I do not know how to post a photo. If you will send me a PM I can send you a photo. I found that I can get the airline straightened out sliding the entire unit forward. This may be the answer. I can put a block behind it to keep it from sliding backwards. BTW, does 112 showing on the meter indicate a maximum of 112A?

Hopefully this will work...... Just in case, the middle photo is with my Everlast pushed forward to allow the airline to clear the cart.....

    Worked just fine.
    Whoa!
Yes you do need to make sure it doesn't get kinked like that. If you are sure that the DINSE is fully tight in that position, then the only way to realign it is to rotate the panel jack inside the machine. Not sure if that's something you want to do, but it's not that hard. Setting up your cart to make a path for the hose might be your best way out for the moment.

    Zoama and Rambozo,

I put in the 220v circuit and what a difference it makes.... now I don't blow the 20a breaker.... I also installed a Motor Guard filter at the back of my cart.... not sure what helped more, the higher voltage or the dry air, but the plasma cutter is a lot better....

Thank you both for the advice....
