Plasma cutter worked for about a minute then stopped...

Can someone help me with my plasma cutter on my PowerPro 256?

I was cutting some 1/8" wire and the plasma cutter suddenly stopped after about a minute of use. I noticed that the red triangle LED was on so i thought that perhaps it needed to cool down but I waited for 30 minutes and it still wasn't working. The red triangle LED light goes off when I cycle the power but comes back on immediately when I touch the plasma gun trigger. I can hear and see he high frequency spark. I swapped out both copper consumables and made sure all the connections were tight. I've adjusted the compressed air to 72 PSI. I had the current set on 45. I set all the switches according to the manual. I did discover while reading the manual that I need a dryer in-line with the compressed air hose so I'm going to purchase one. The plastic ring (air swirl ring?) inside the gun seems to be a bit tight, is it supposed to be that way?

Do you have a straight 256? When did you buy it?

I don't know what you mean by "straight". The unit was purchased back in 2011.

Staight 256 then. We went to the 256S, and now the 256Si. There's a difference in the units. Sounds like a bad Plasma side inverter, but could be anything in between. You need to call tech support (ext 207) to go through some basic diagnosis and rma number if it needs to be returned to get it fixed.
