Power Ultra 250P Tig problem

I have a Power Ultra 250P that works fine in Plasma and Stick mode. I have only tried the Tig mode a couple of times and have not been successful yet. When I push the switch on the Tig gun with the tungsten about 1/8" away from the steel, I can see the HF arc, but the weld arc will not start unless I touch the tungsten to the metal first, kind of like lift start. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Thanks,

It might just be that your gas velocity is too high for a low amp start, especially if your cup size is smaller.

I believe you need to adjust the HF points to around .035
You'll have to remove the cover by the rear and side screws. Do not disturb the front panel. The points look like two little tabs on those models. You can see them at about the 10 o'clock position behind the front panel louvers.
Let the machine sit unplugged for about 20 minutes before removing the cover.

I finally got around to trying your suggestion. I removed the cover and adjusted the points to about .038 ( I had a piece of S.S. that was that thick). Now the unit will strike an arc when I press the button on the torch. Thanks for the help.
