I have been running my 210ext for about a year and it has been a very good machine but today it quit and I could use some help. I was tacking together an aluminum project ( 1/8" plate) when mid tack the arc quit and now I can not get it to restart. I think I have the 2014 model 210ext
First the settings:
Machine set on Ac
120 Hz
Ac balance -20
Foot pedal with the amps set on 210 on the machine
2sec pre flow 4 second post flow
3/32 2% lanthanated blunt taper
Standard #7 cup
Ground directly to work piece
Symptoms:
Everything was running fine and then the arc went out while the pedal was still depressed and now it will not restart. When I step on the pedal I can hear the 2 sec pre flow and then I can hear and see the hf pilot arc but the welding arc does not start. With the pedal still depressed I can touch the tungsten to the work piece and I see a small spark but no arc. I turned the machine off and back on again and it worked great for 5 minutes and then began to have the same problem again. Now switching the machine off and back on does not fix the problem.
Here is what I tried to narrow down the problem:
Switched the machine to dc. Pre flow and pilot arc but no welding arc
Switched from the foot pedal to the torch switch. Pre flow and pilot arc but no welding arc
Turned hf off and preflow to 0 and tried scratch start. No arc
Switched to dcep and tried running some 7018 stick rods. They started and ran no problem. This also tells me that the ground cable is ok.
Switched to a different torch- no luck
Tried to strike the arc directly to the ground clamp. Pilot but no welding arc.
Tried to research how to adjust the hf points but from what I can tell this machine does not have adjustable points.
What do you guys think? I am mid project and could really use some help. I tried to call tech support but they are closed or not answering. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Julian
