Thread: New Powerarc 200 st problems

  1. Default New Powerarc 200 st problems

My buddy just received a new powerarc 200 st and when we turned it on after about 10 seconds a high pitch screeching sound started coming from it. Turned it off and when it turns off the display is all flashy and sporadic. Both 110v and 220v does it. It's so loud it's hard to tell where it's coming from. Opened it up and everything looks fine inside. I left it running for a little and it stopped then 30 seconds later came back. Any ideas?

The longer it sits the high pitch noise is going away. The display is still laggy while turning on and flashes numbers for 5 seconds after turning off. I am wondering if it coulda just been froze from shipping. What's your alls thoughts

It takes a few seconds after you switch the machine off for it to stop running, but not sure at what temp you are operating the unit.

Ive owned a pa 200 for several years and I've never seen anything like it. When it turns off the amperage reading dances around reading a bunch of different numbers. The high pitch sound has not stopped. It got delivered today and sat inside for several house. Then rode in the back of a truck for 15 minutes still in box. Got it inside again 70 degrees. Waited 20 minutes fired it up and it was messing up. We will see if it continues to make any noises.

Well it's back to making a noise for the first 30 seconds it's on again. It's been inside for a couple hours and welded some So we know it's not still froze.

I just got a 200st last week. Mine seems to function fine. When I power it on, the fan spins up and the display floats around for around 10 seconds. No screech. When i power it off it takes does nothing for a few seconds then the fan cuts off and the display flashes rapidly and fades to black. I have only ran it on 220 stick and tig welding.

I thought you would find it useful to know how a functioning unit behaves.
