    Default No more arc

I have an I-mig 140E and yesterday it stopped initiating an arc. I thought it was maybe overheated even though the light never came on and it never shut down. I let it sit for like 30 min and it seemed to work ok. After sitting overnight I went out and tried it today and it won't initate an arc, not even directly on the ground clamp. I have only had this machine about a month. What do you think?

You should call into tech support at 877-755-9353. You can open the machine and look for loose wires, but sounds like a real trouble. Ray should be able to help.

Loosen the euro connect and reseat it.
Check the two main lugs behind the drive roller.

Also make sure the work clamp dinse connector hasn't loosened from the cable. If something has gone down, the unit is pretty easy to fix. Just a single main circuit board.

I have checked the lugs, I have seated and reseated the ground clamp. Have not reseated the mig gun so i'll try that. I shot Ray an email so we will see what he says.

Does the wire feed when you pull the trigger ?

I'd pull the cover and look for a loose connection.

Ok got the new board today and swapped it out. Exact same problem, everything works but absolutely no arc initiation.

I would check for voltage at the wire feed roll and work my way back to the source from there. This has to be something simple.

I'd measure continuity from the ground clamp to the dinse connector end, then start working my way back inside the unit. It's either no ground or no voltage...

I'll check those. what else is in the system that's not on the board?

The inductors, probably any large output caps, connection straps, etc. Is that a single board unit, or is there a second control board in the front? Maybe take a few pics. Zoama is right, just start tracing and you should be able to locate where the power starts and stops. Be sure to check the terminals where you swap polarity and especially anywhere there is a mechanical connection point.
Long arc, short arc, heliarc and in-the-dark!

It's a single board. It stands vertical. But you are right, pictures might help isolate or see the problem.

Always start with the simplest things.
