  1. Default Good GTAW Starting Point Settings?

Just curious if there was a document out there that had some good starting point GTAW settings for the PowerPro 256.

    Mark,

No, there isn't any "document"...because the nature of what you asked is so vast and limitless to cover...

We/I need more information, for example, what metal are you going to be welding, what tungsten size? What metal thickness? Rusty? Oxidized? What type joint? Are you trying to do it in one pass or multiple passes? What gas are you using? What flow rate? What style are you using to manipulate the torch etc????

If you can take a stab at some of these questions, we can narrow it down. There is no "one size fits all" approach. Some companies publish all these specs, but they are relatively meaningless to anyone except the person who created the specs from their style of welding.

I guess a more appropriate question would have been how do the various knobs affect the weld? I was trying to use the manual that shipped with the unit. Not the best translation. The new version has what I need.

    Regards,
    Mark H.

All our manuals are posted on the site.

Also you can go to weldingtipsandtricks. com to see the complete 4 or 5 part discussion of the control settings.

I thought it was 6 or maybe 5, but here is a link to a post with the links.

This website and weldguru.com are good sites to read. Far as settings, like Mark stated, just post what you are trying to do, we can help with the rest. I have people call tech support sometimes and ask as well. We don't bite, just need a little more info. Type of metal and thickness for a bare minimum guess.
