Thread: 2015 powerplasma 50 no output

  1. Default 2015 powerplasma 50 no output

Fuse is good, pressure is good, consumables are new, continuity on torch safety pins, 2t or 4t, normal or tip saver pilot. Pressing the trigger briefly initiates air flow and post flow when released, no spark what so ever. No warning lights. If i hold the trigger down, there's no air or spark, soon as trigger is released the post flow starts. Any troubleshooting?? I've contacted tech but they've quit responding.

Have you touched the nozzle to the metal when you tried to start the arc?

Have you checked to see if your swirl ring is in the torch? Is the piston pushing in and out well?

What do you mean by "quit" responding? It sounds that they were responding for a while and then quit. Did they reply at all? When did you try to contact them for response and did not reply? What, if any, did they tell you to do in their last correspondence?

Since the air won't stay on with the switch held down on 2T there has to be something wrong in the switching circuit at least. Even if there is an arc problem, the air should work. You might have more than one problem, too. I would trace out the circuit from the trigger switch to the air solenoid and see what's going on.
Long arc, short arc, heliarc and in-the-dark!

I mean we corresponded a few times about check this or that, I ordered new consumables and touched base advising it was still dead and asked for an RMA, and haven't heard back. No spark when tip is touched directly olto the work. The swirl ring is in place, the blowback is working fine. I pulled the cover and can see nothing obvious but with as many things going on in there as there are, I'd need a hell of a wiring diagram to make sense of any of it. I'm happy to troubleshoot but without info I don't know what to begin checking.

The manual says "igbt issue" in the trouble shooting section which doesn't help at all

Called and got RMA info so I guess it's back to the ol grinder and drill press for a while.

I have noticed that sometimes I forget to put the swirl ring into the torch when I replace the consumables. When you take the tip and electrode out of the torch, the ring sometimes has a habit of falling off and rolling away. That can cause the torch not to light up. Not sure if the newer PP 50's have that ring ( a brown round little guy that fits at the base of the tip) but my older one does and it sometimes needs to be replaced.

Swirl ring was installed and in good shape. Shipped it in for warranty repair a couple weeks ago, haven't heard anything but am real curious what simple fix was the issue. Cost me 85 bucks to ship it, I'd laugh if it needed 5 cents worth of solder somewhere...

Next time, use USPS priority mail, and insure it. I bet it wouldn't have cost half that much. I've used it and on welders the same size, a cross country ship only cost about 40.00...which would have been a little bit heavier.

That was with usps, cheapest option they had. Ups quoted almost 100 bucks, I considered just buying a new one somewhere. Everyone should somehow keep the box equipment comes in so that when it needs to be sent off, you don't have to get creative and find a box. The size of the box is what killed the rate. Got an email saying it was slated for repair in September!! Trying not to get too down on everlast but the next equipment I buy will be from a local shop with local support. I just hope my 325ext keeps working!!

Still don't have it back or any idea when I will. Scheduled repair date was over a month ago...is this common?

Ok, it's been over 3 months now, still no word and now the email I used to inquire about the status is undeliverable.
