  1. Default First post introduction

Hey guys, just wanted to say 'Hi' I picked up a 200DV tig a couple months ago now and its been so far so good. Been spending a lot of hours running stringers and trying to weld together whatever I can get my hands on. I'm going to be picking up a new mig soon and still bouncing around which one I will get (honestly might be a eastwood sorry) but I love the technology in the everlast migs and my TIG for that matter so its been a wrenching decision.

Here's a pick of my welding cart as it seems to hold everything I need with ease.

BTW, As far as my welding history. I started welding when I was a kid, just laying snot with my dads arc welder. Took welding in high school and did arc, and brazing and light amounts of mig and plasma. Since then I just welded on and off whenever their was a mig around, I knew the gist of it... Ive been working in machine shop for 5+ years and have come up to the level of applications engineering for an OEM. I then bought my own first mig and plasma in a package, a eastwood mig 175 and versa cut 40, to work on my jeep. It has run fine and given me a lot of experience. As I started building this jeep more, i realised I need more capability. So after drooling over a few machines, I actually initially purchased a 315LX, but didnt realise it was a 3phase machine... infact if it is ever brought back as a single phase, I would trade or sell my 200DV for it. I have a bit of welding to do on some axles that ranges from 3/16 all the way to 1/2" mild steel so I have been looking into higher amp machines to get as much penetration as possible for single pass welding. My rear truss is on a gm 14bolt which is 3/8 tube and the truss is all 1/4 and 3/8.. so I think I will step my MIG game up here in the lines of a 250amp machine as the 175 just wont handle it effectively.

Ill try to post some pictures when I can or when I have questions or concerns. I am much more of a reader and do know how to use the search button .
