  1. Default On demand fan

I've been thinking about upgrading my current welder (Miller EconoTIG) to something more modern with more power.
I've been thinking about the 255EXT but one thing that really bothers me about my current welder is the fans never shut off, and the 255EXT doesn't have fan on demand.
Are there any plans in the future to add variable speed fans to the product line? A quiet shop is always nicer to work in.

I've got the 210EXT, which is whisper quiet, with its four (yes "four") fans. And I'd hate to have an "on demand" fan cutting on and off intrusively while I'm welding and listening to music.

Interestingly, the 255EXTs were nowhere near as quiet as the 210EXT, from what I've seen/heard on video.

But, I believe that I read recently somehere that the newest 255EXTs are quiter than the earlier ones. Maybe it was one of Mark's (from Everlast) posts. Maybe it was because the 255EXT now has that same four-fan feaure, like the 210EXT.

  3. Default 210EXT Fan Noise

Just powered up my newly purchased 210EXT. The fan noise is quite pronounced.

Sound level measures 88 DBA at a 1 meter distance all around the machine. (Used my Note 8 smartphone and the Keuwlsoft SPL Meter app. )

It uses (4) 100mm x 100mm fans in back and really pushes a lot of air through the machine. I can "feel" the wind standing in front of the machine.

I wonder if anyone has modified the fans to be temperature controlled instead of constantly running full blast.

The 255EXT with 4 fans is just as quiet as the 210EXT unit. I've measured with Apps at about 76 decibels at 3 feet...and it is directly behind the fan area.

My 325EXT is loud also and I ask if they will be making one with four fans and maybe fans on demand for less noise I have mine in a different room and out all the cables thru a hole is a pain turn in on and off. I see the new Miller Dynasty 400 has fans on demand and coolant also on demand.

I would also like to see the 325ext at least get to feature parity with the 255ext, it is the flagship product after all.
