    Default imig205

    having a problem with tack welding...i tack about 4 or 5 times and over current light comes on and wont weld but still feeds wire,so i turn machine off and start to weld and no problems but when i go to tacking again 4 or 5 tacks same thing again....have already contacted dan i think is his name and he hasnt gotten a n answer for me yet been about 2 weeks.anyone else have this problem?

    Gee,

    That's an odd problem.

    I don't have much of a response that might fix it on the spot, but since it's a statist holyday weekend there might not be much feedback anyway.

    So, under these circumstances and my lack of electronics experience, I'd tend to take the cover off, after letting the unit set for several hours to let capacitors discharge, and then closely inspect the boards for any blown circuitry.

    Then, if anything does look blown, you may be able to get Everlast staff to just send a repacement board for that sector, rather than sending the unit itself for free repair/replacement during the 5 year warantee, but not the shipping costs, which is still quite nice, I think.

    I had a similar problem with my 250p at first. I was told by "performance" to add a "piggyback" resistor to fix the problem and it's worked perfectly since. I tried to add a picture but this forum is so screwed up (as usual) it won't upload.

    i had talked to mark also and he thought the same as you stated but wasnt sure ...will wait for response back from techs to see if it is the same...did you get schematics on where to place the piggyback resistor and what size?

    Yes but I'm sure it's different for each model. I had trouble starting an arc about 70% of the time and couldn't start with the wire touching at all but this fix made the machine work perfectly. It's been 4 years now.

    glad to hear that ive had my machine 5 yrs now so no warranty and i love the machine...its done all ive ever asked of it...hope this is all it is.
