Hi!
Hi,
Just joined this forum, ordered a 210EXT last week, and am looking forward to it's delivery on Friday. I've done a fair amount of oxy acetylene welding over the years, and some TIG in the past, but never really got proficient. Built a new garage a couple years ago and now I'm filling it with tools I've always wanted. I do a lot of aviation work so hopefully this will keep me busy for a while!
I'm located in Frederick County MD.

Hey, welcome to the forum here, David. It's nice to see a little activity here, as it has been slow.
Maybe I took more notice, though, since I have a 210EXT too. I'm not an expert on aluminum with it, but manage to use it effectively enough, I think, having only done around several hours of AC aluminum TIG on some smaller projects over the past couple of years. I've done more with DC TIG on ferrous stuff with a different machine that I had for several years, though.
One helpful upgrade that many seem to like for the EXT line is an SSC or Nova pedal, or some other amptrol device.

Good choice for the aviation work. Welcome.

Mark & Christian,
Thanks for the replies. While not new to welding in general or to TIG, it's been a few years. Started out gas welding when I was in HS back in the '70s, then had a little experience with TIG in A&P school. I've done a lot of gas welding on fuselage frames over the years (a couple J3 Cubs, a couple Super Cubs, a couple Taylorcrafts, and a couple gliders). Did some TIG repairs on aluminum intake housings and built an aluminum scoop for the oil cooler on the airplane I had at the time. One A&P school I was teaching at had a Syncrowave 300 as did one shop that I ran. The other shop I ran had a Syncrowave 200 and used them mostly for aluminum repairs and used gas for steel tubing. A couple years ago I picked up a Lincoln AC225 buzz box and have puddled together a few things. I am by no means a stick welder. The last project I did was a 27"X27" table for gas welding with a fire brick surface. Used 1 1/2" angle iron and the AC225 so it's not pretty, but it is holding together. In any case I'm looking forward to the 210EXT and building my TIG skills.
