Thread: foot pedal rewire

  1. Default foot pedal rewire

Simple fix I am sure but I just noticed my foot pedal on my 210ext has a serious fraying problem and I am concerned that it will soon give up. How do I open the pedal to reconnect the wires? are there any screws in the top (I glued a large thick rubber pad To mine and don't want to rip it off if I don't need to. I tried taking a picture but the site does seem to want to let me upload it unless its the size of a postage stamp after reducing the size 3 times and it still wont work I gave up :-(

    Thanks
    Lee

    Wow,

You've got one of those early 210EXT units. Those were kind of compact compared to my 2015 model. There are some interesting hidden menus or features on that model, I believe, like an adjustable intensity of the HF arc starts, isn't there? That OEM pedal is different than later versions, too.

The OEM pedal that came with my 2015 model could easliy have the top portion removed by placing a wide-bladed flathead screwdriver up along the side, where the fulcrum rod hangs out enough to be captured by the hole for it on the top clam-shell piece of the pedal, i.e., just create about 1/4" worth of flexion in that space so it can release on one side with a bit of upward pressure too, the other side will then release as well.

Your pre-2015 pedal may do it the same way.

Putting the top clam-shell piece back on is even easier; virtually tool-lessly.

Please let us all hear if that is the actual solution for that pedal.

Thanks!, Yes it was a 2013/14 model I believe, I had a problem with the frequency control on the original unit i purchased, but Everlast (Oleg I think) sorted it out and swapped the unit for another. It has been running flawlessly since. It gets a reasonable amount of use usually welding anything from 16 swg steel to 1/4" Plate but also occasionally Aluminum and Stainless work.

Still would like to hear from someone on the official method to sort the pedal, but one thing I noticed from my own picture (that I never noticed before) is it looks like there is a sticker maybe over the fulcrum so it looks like I may be able to peel that back to reveal something that could be undone? I will check it out when I get back this evening. But if the Evrlast team could respond to confirm that would be great.

    Cheers

Yes it was as simple as you can get. The pivot is actually spring loaded pretty much that same as a wristwatch strap spring bar. Just a simple push in from either side was enough and the top is off.
