Default New 255EXT heading to the Buckeye

Hello just joined I think it was yesterday and today I purchased a 255 EXT with a Nova pedal and a #9 Roto Flex torch with a 25 Ft. lead now all's I have to do is teach myself how to Tig weld which will be no small task I'm sure. Wanted to buy myself a belated Christmas present and to lift my spirits as I sit here in a cold house its 12 degrees outside and 62 in here right now and because for some reason my fuel oil furnace just drank all the oil I bought for it last month and wasn't paying attention to the fuel gauge and I wasn't hot rodding it either.

I guess I'm your basic back yard welding type or less so I thought I would take myself on a new adventure and learn how to tig weld plus its getting close to tax time. I have an old Lincoln SP 250 which has been a pain in my but and a Miller 251 with a spool gun for aluminum and a Miller 211 mig so I going from red to blue and then green hope the color change works for me.

So I'm going to be hanging out here for guidance and instruction and watching vids on the Tube. So I hope I don't rile any members here with some of my simple questions and I do know that the search function is my friend so thanks in advance and thanks for letting join also.

    Hi Mark,

Do you like the Nova pedal? I just ordered one for my newly acquired i-Tig 201.

I was under the impression I needed the 47k-50k ohm pedal, but Christian pointed out on the weld.com forum that in the manual it shows it's a 22k model.

Somehow there was a different manual online than Everlast gave me, but this might be just assembly and operating instructions...still, why didn't they include one in the box is beyond me.

In the online manual it clearly states 22k ohms on page 22. Thanks Christian for that note!

I ordered one off Amazon earlier.

    Yeah,

Nice to see a new member, Mark (oleblu72).

It has been pretty tame around here, so please post away!

There used to be manuals in the box, but they were really bad translations done in China. They were good for a laugh but not much more. You can see examples in some older posts. The online versions are mostly written by Mark (performance) and are so much better. Being online, if there are changes or problems, they can be fixed quickly. He also does a great job translating from Georgia to English, too

Some units have come with 22K pedals, and some with 47K. The digital units don't care as long as you don't go crazy, and even older analog units will just have a different slope as they are just wired as control voltage dividers. What has more impact is the taper of the pot, linear or logarithmic. Some people really prefer one over the other. Different brand pedals use different pots and also some pedals have more or less travel than others. That all comes down to personal preference.
Long arc, short arc, heliarc and in-the-dark!

Wouldn't know Alan the units making its way from Kaliforny at least I think its coming from the left coast. I had them swap the factory pedal for the Nova pedal which was $100 extra and the # 9 torch to the # 9 Roto Flex with a 25 ft. lead for $69 extra.

Thanks for the welcome M.J. you're just up the road from me small world.

Thanks Christian I'm sure I'll have plenty of those . I have to figure out what consumables to buy, from what I've read I'll probably be using 3/32 mostly.
