There used to be manuals in the box, but they were really bad translations done in China. They were good for a laugh but not much more. You can see examples in some older posts. The online versions are mostly written by Mark (performance) and are so much better. Being online, if there are changes or problems, they can be fixed quickly. He also does a great job translating from Georgia to English, too
Some units have come with 22K pedals, and some with 47K. The digital units don't care as long as you don't go crazy, and even older analog units will just have a different slope as they are just wired as control voltage dividers. What has more impact is the taper of the pot, linear or logarithmic. Some people really prefer one over the other. Different brand pedals use different pots and also some pedals have more or less travel than others. That all comes down to personal preference.
