Unhappy PM 256 Hi-Freq quit working

I had big plans this weekend to get caught up on projects, but no joy. I went to use the plasma cutter and the high frequency pilot arc did not work, I tried the TIG - no high frequency there either. I can start the both the plasma and TIG by scratching.

Its been about 3 weeks since I last used the machine and its unplugged when not in use. Machine was purchased new in April, is there anything I can do to fix it?

    Thanks,

    Tony

    Tony,
You can call Mike and he should be able to walk you through diagosing it, and more than likely get you up and running.

Thanks Mark, what number can I reach him at? I tried 650 588 8082 x203 and it went to voice mail - obviously on the weekend.

I was able to get in touch with Mike, we adjusted the hi freq points at the front of the unit, they spark when the troch trigger is activated, but still no pilot arc or HF at the torch.

Machine is on its way back to Everlast for an exchange. We'll see how long that takes, as they may be out of stock until later in the month.

    Tony,

That shouldn't be a problem...By the time the machine is received, they should be able to ship it right out with no delay.

    Default Replacement Here!

I rec'd the replacement welder today, the box was in the usual condition, had a few tears on the side, but not totally squashed. The machine seemed fine. Anyway, the only function I had time to try was the plasma as I'm in need of it - it seemed to work OK - hi-freq is back! I'll post a few pictures of the project this weekend.

Thanks Mike and everyone for the support and getting it replaced.

Good to hear! I like your initial review write up! I was curious what type of ball valves did you use for switching between air and argon?

I went to the local lowes, and they suggested using ones for natural gas, but the handles were too small.
