Day 5 325EXT, Water Cooler and New Torch
I'm still just half-assed checking everything out. I have a water cooler and water cooled torch to install!
I have the Everlast cooler which plugs into back of 325EXT (leave cooler turned on and master switch turns on welder and cooler)
Red (hot water return) and Blue (cool water feed to torch) 9 MM quick connect female couplings.
I have a
Speedway SW 320-25DX (specs at www.tectorch.com) it's rated to 320 AMPS same as 325EXT
WP 20's are rated to 230-250AMPS
So you will need a second torch WP18 rated to 350 AMPS if you are seriously welding around 300 AMPS for long periods
The Speedway is a series 2 size torch (small) 3 different size gas lens collets, plus you can also purchase 5/32' collets, gas lenses, back caps to fit it.
So, no need for a $70 stubby gas lens kit)
One torch does everything for about the same price as two torches and all the rest of the junk!
You will need adapters
1- CK SLWHAT 35 (7/8- 14 left hand thread)
2- QDWAP water connectors (5/8-18 Left hand thread)
1- QDGAP gas connector (5/8-18 right hand thread)
About $100 from ArcZone and they were cheapest at the time
SLWHAT 35 has a hole in the male dinse like a thru gas connector, BUT it is a blind hole (not drilled through), one blank must be used to make gas thru dinse and non-gas thru dinse male end
The #% will not fit the 325 with the knurled not on from factory
Will fit with nut off
Solution take about 3/16' off front of knurled nut (W/ lathe, belt sander, etc)
3 pics show nut flush with brass on 35 dinse, in machine no nut, and nut ground down and about 3/16' of brass shoulder exposed
Pretty straight forward
Torch power cable/water return (big 7/8 nut)screws into SLWHAT 35
NOTE HASH MARKS ON HEX FOR WRENCH DENOTE LEFT HAND THREAD, LEFTY TIGHTY, RIGHTY LOOSEY!
NO NEED FOR THREAD SEALER OR TAPE!
Dinse twists and screws into (-) 325EXT port, red dangling small hose plugs into red port on water cooler
Leaves two hoses on torch, water torch inlet left hand thread, both water connections are LEFT HAND THREAD
Right hand thread adapter is for gas hose!
If you look close in the pic, I have a water filter and sight glass on blue water cooler outlet ($30 on EBay)
Plugged everything in and turned cooler on, watched site glass fill etc.
Turned cooler off, dangled red torch return hose in empty jug, turned on, bingo, 4 ozs in about 2 secs, all good.
Demo tomorrow!
