Thread: Hello from North East Pennsylvania.

Default Hello from North East Pennsylvania.

Hi Guys, we have a humble hot rod sheet metal shop in Pa. We do mostly light sheet metal panel fab, along with chassis. I currently have a Lincoln SP200 mig, Miller 252 mig, Airco 300 Tig and Syncrowave 210. IÂ’m seriously interested in the 250ex Tig, as it seems it would fit in very well in my shop. IÂ’ve looked at customer support and the comments, and it seems as though, theyÂ’re right on top of things. My Sync, has lost its pc once already, and to get the options the 250ex has, would meen spending even more on the machine. DonÂ’t get me wrong, I like it, however the Everlast seems to be quite a bit more convenient, not to mention, a whole lot less expensive. I havenÂ’t located a dealer close by, but IÂ’m not really concerned with ordering online. Thanks, Steve @ Pro Metal Shop

    Steve,

You undoubtedly won't find a local dealer that sells Everlast units off-the-shelf (although, Everlast might have marketed through HomeDepot at one time).

But that's not a bad thing, since you'll save about $150 buying online (mail-order) from Everlast, since you'll pay no state sales tax, since you're outside the Alta Calif. taxing zone. You can also buy Everlast units online, via Amazon, but there's a slight chance a sales tax might be incurred via Amazon.

The Everlast policy of 30 day 100% satisfaction is real, as I have firsthand experience with it, and includes free return shipping during that period. So, just put the unit through its paces immediately.

I've had my 210EXT nearly 5 years now, and have enjoyed the unit's performance and features quite well. Also the warrantee (yes, after the 30 day, it's customer paid shipping, both ways, but I believe Everlast has sometimes been helpful to some of their customers on a tight budget, by using their UPS commercial account, to get a lower cost on shipping), and the Everlast support by phone, email, and direct Everlast support/feedback on another forum where Mark (lug weld) is a member.

I've never sent the 210EXT back for service, and the 5-year warrantee is about up. But the cost to repair Everlast units out-of-warrantee seems to be more reasonable that the BIG Name brands, as described by users on this forum and elsewhere, as I recall.

Choosing and buying an Everlast TIG unit is a fun times and a brilliant move. Of course, I like the EXT line of TIG units, with their digital interface, memory function, wave forms (especially the Triangle wave, for thinner aluminum), and even that Advanced Pulse/MIX Tig feature (when you keep it at 100% on the DC half, so it's non-reductive). So, yeah, the EXTs cost a little more that the analog units, but are still about a third of the price a Miller Dynasty (comparably equipped). And there's sales tax that you'll keeping in your pocket too, which you could consider as a free insurance fund, in case you might worry about having to ship that unit back for service. In 5 years, I've never needed to. And if my 210EXT got struck by lightning, I'd buy another one, very promptly.

Thanks for the replies guys, I’ve ordered my 250ex along with the 350 cooler, and a flex (18) torch. So now, I’ll build a welding cart for this package. I have to say ordering was a pleasure, customer service was great to deal with, and my order got bumped up by a week. I post after I get started on my weld cart.

Steve, Enjoy your new purchase! I'm in NW NJ - got everything I ordered on time and in great condition - MTS 252sti along with cooler & cart. Everything came together perfectly and I'm having a great time learning TIG as an enthusiast.
