Thread: Foot Pedal and Torch on 250EX

Default Foot Pedal and Torch on 250EX

Are the 250EX's being shipped with the new style pedal now? In Jody's review on the 256, he stats that he likes the new pedal that came with the 256 better then the one that came with the 250EX.
And what about the new smaller torch's that Everlast is supposed to be coming out with? Are they available yet?

    Thanks, Gerald

I would like to get a smaller torch for mine as well Rugar. I am used to the bigger 17s that come with it because the Miller I have has the same size torch but I would like to have a smaller torch with water cooling. I hear that the dealer in Canada has them but I have not checked there yet . I would like to see if they will be offering it here soon or I will be looking for one.

I just got my 225lx and foot pedal seemed a bit floppy so I took the cover off. The pedal arm that turns the rheostat is mounted with a single screw, double nutted to keep the arm in position. This was loose, a minor adjustment and I lubed a few contact points while I was their. This made a major improvement on the feel of the pedal operation. I felt the pedal was a little tall but after using it I think it is just fine. I may put a few strips of skateboard tape on the pedal.

Yes the footpedal will be the same as the one Jodie has. I believe the unit i sent to him had a plain surface on the foot plate but the Latest arrivals in the US has a rubber footprint on the plate for better grip and less chance of your boot sliding around on the surface. But the actuall pedal function is identical with just this slight difference ( for the better )
Jodie will also be receiving a Flex head Water Cooled Torch and he will let us know his thoughts on the quality /performance / function as we would like to offer some different size torches specifically made to hook up to our welders.
All the sample Torches i am getting are Flex neck . WP9 WP18 WP20 in 14' and 25' lengths
I have a number of these torches earmarked to go out to some of my Customers for feedback and of course Jodie.
As soon as we are satisfied with the feedback we will be offering them.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.
I'm about this ---> <--- close to pulling the trigger and buying a TIG welder. Ive been looking real hard and doing lots of research on all the available units on the market, and the 250EX is towards the top of my list at the moment.

I thought that I had read some where on one of the forums (maybe this one but I dont recall at the moment), that the new pedal was supposed to have a adjustment dial on it for making the pedal more linear.
Hopefully your new line or torch's will work out. Looking forward to seeing them.

    Thanks, Gerald

Bit of confusion there with the footpedals. Yes there was and actually still is this type of foot control this was something that we where working on before our new design was decided on(I know i have about 100 of them that will likely just collect dust ) The control is on the same box as the older model and it would still have the same issues with the ratchet arm jumping gears on the cog.
The new pedal is a totally different design both outside and in. as for the control for linear amp it is really not necessary for most of our line with the exception of perhaps the ITIG 200
