Thread: Waiting on a PP256 in Texas

  1. Default Waiting on a PP256 in Texas

My name is Kevin and I've been welding since my wife bought me a Lincoln AC only stick welder in 1973. Upgraded to a Century mig welder for a short time before selling it and buying a Miller Dial Arc HF in 1987. I've been tig welding ever since and am very pleased with the Miller. Wanting a smaller more portable tig welder for use at home, I ordered a PP256 on 6/25/10 and received it on 7/23/10. After building a tig cooler and some fittings to use the water cooled torch, I fired up the PP256 on 7/31/10. I had all the pieces cut for building a cart as my first test project and was anxious to find out how the PP256 would perform. It had some issues that required returning it and getting a functional unit. Reading all the reviews of the people that are very happy with their new welders makes me envious. Can't wait to get one that works.

  2. Default where?

What part of Texas do you live in? I'm north of Lubbock with a PP256 and loving it, not trying to rub it in, although I still need to get my gas to start tiggin.

  3. Default

I'm located just north of Houston. The PP256 has some great spec's and will be much easier to move around than my 400lb Miller Dial Arc HF. If the PP256 does what I think it can, I will be getting rid of the Miller. I never really needed the Dial Arc HF's 310 amp capability.

kevin: if you are ever in corpus let me know> I have a 250ex, You are welcome to try out.

It sure would be nice to have my welder show up. Waiting is frustrating and the outlook from Everlast looks like it will be next month before I see it.

  6. Default

Hopefully my welder will arrive sometime before the warranty expires. The months just keep slipping by.

Think I'm starting to feel your pain myself..
Ordered a PP256 w/water cooler & cart about a month & half back (in Sept) but no word yet. Knew it might not ship for a few weeks, but jeez , it sure would be nice to hear from someone if there are delays..
Paying the MasterCard bill already for it (ie-billed when ordered), so I hope it arrives sometime soon...

    Guys,
The units came to port Friday. Just waiting for customs to finish their stuff. Our company is close to port, as soon as they are released, they will be shipped.

Thank God. I've been bugging Katya about mine. She also stated they were to arrive Friday but said they would try their best and hopefully ship the same day but I guess not! Its now Tuesday and they haven't cleared yet. Guess that saves me another email to her. I just had a second job walk out the door. I guess its my fault for thinking they would actually be in on Oct 27th and I would be welding by Nov 3rd. (ordered Oct 12) I couldn't imagine ordering in the middle of Sept and not having it yet! I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!

I held off on ordering my 250EX until Oleg was sure they were on the water. He was very clear about them needing to clear customs and told me I might, and I emphasize might, get it around the end of this week.

I spent a few years in the high end tools sales business and I know what the folks at Everlast are going through. Believe me there's nothing more devastating then having to tell your customer that their order is delayed even when you know there is nothing you did to cause it.

These folks work their rear ends off to earn our trust and often it seems like your working in a house of cards.

Hang in there. Katya says they came in last Friday, they have to clear customs. I for one, trust that as soon as they do, they'll check them out and send them on their way. Nobody's getting ripped off here, this is just the way the business is sometimes.

I once had a guy wait 5 months for a General Cabinet Saw out of Canada that I originally said would be there in two weeks. You can't imagine how bad I felt.

Well.. it was more towards the end of Sept, & in all fairness, I knew it might take some time.
It's just tough getting those dirty looks from the wife when the bill arrives first
Good to hear tho that things might be on the way soon.

What about when Oleg posted this:

we clear customs electronically and takes few hours for that.
By the end of today it will be done!

If they arrived on Friday, but today is Tuesday and it only takes a few hours to clear customs electronically, Whats the deal? Not angry but I want to be told the truth. JUST BE HONEST!

    Honestly,
You aren't very familiar with customs. There are several scenarios that take place, particularly when shipments are flagged for inspection. Then delivery must be arranged. Sometimes it all flows together in one day, sometimes it takes a week. You never can tell, and you can't rush the US government.

Paperwork can be done quickly, but a shipment that undergoes intensive inspection can be held up for days, and even weeks until everypart is examined and accounted for, or they can xray each box, or part of a shipment. This is one of the largest shipments to date, so things do happen. But Friday evening delivery means one day for clearing, another for delivery on average, if shipping is heavy.

The shipment was in on Friday. Shipments will begin as soon as the product arrives on the dock.

  14. Thumbs up

Thanks for the detailed update. I am satisfied that you are doing all that you can, and now have a clear understanding of what may or may not occur after delivery to American soil. I think I speak for most in saying we are more excited than ever to receive our orders.

    1) I knew that my order wouldn't arrive soon after placement, & I was OK with that in part because the price I was given was very good.
    2) I fully authorized the billing of my credit card at the the time of order as I wanted to secure the price I received at that time (not that anyone at Everlast declared it was necessary)
    3) I completely understand the 'unanticipated delays' one can face when dealing with Government agencies (as I am employed by one)
    4) I probably should also have mentioned that my wife always gives me dirty looks when bills come in for things she won't be using

So far my experience with Everlast regarding my purchase has been one of professionalism & courtesy..

Apologies to all if my previous postings were misleading, I was just venting my personal frustrations at being unable to enjoy a machine I'm looking forward to using.
    Again, my apologies...

Sounds like you guys took care of the problem.

Union + "made in china" label = back burner.

I may have a solution to the problem, I just don't know everlasts private business matters.

I do know that when my unit came in, I still had to wait 7 days for UPS to get it here.

Through no fault of Everlasts or anyone else, it always rubbed me the wrong way when I saw posts "I got my welder in 1 day!" Made me want to go postal on the next UPS driver!

Glad to hear things worked out.

FYI my "Lean Mean Green Machine" is still running strong! Although I can only use it as a cutter at the moment, as my Argon bottle is loaned out!
